Community First. District 58 Always.

Demetria Henderson for Georgia House

I’m Demetria Henderson, and I am running for State Representative in District 58. My leadership is rooted in real-world experience, and I am committed to fighting for accessible healthcare, affordable living, strong schools, and safe neighborhoods. I will listen to the people and stand up for our community and for Georgia.

Meet Demetria Henderson

I’m Demetria Henderson, a proud Poncey-Highland resident who cares deeply about all of District 58 and the people of Georgia. I’m running for State Representative to stand up for families, neighborhoods, and communities across our district and our state.

In 2020, I founded a nonprofit after seeing growing needs in Atlanta, helping families access mental health services, job training, school resources, and programs that reduce poverty and strengthen neighborhoods. Through this work, I’ve met countless families and witnessed how laws directly impact their lives. During a medical emergency with an ectopic pregnancy, care was delayed because of restrictive healthcare laws a situation that could have been fatal. Experiences like these, combined with my years observing legislation on the Georgia General Assembly floor, showed me why we need representatives who listen, understand, and fight for the people.

As your State Representative, I will fight for safe schools, Medicaid expansion, affordable healthcare, housing affordability, fair taxes for homeowners and seniors, women’s rights and reproductive justice, and policies that support working families and small businesses.

I want to hear from you. Reach out about legislation you disagree with, concerns about schools, housing, transportation, public safety, or anything that affects your neighborhood or daily life. Your voice matters! Our legislators work for the people. We need leadership rooted in integrity and transparency.

My Priorities for District 58

I am running to bring real solutions to District 58. I believe in safe neighborhoods, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, strong schools, civil rights, and community strength. These priorities reflect my lifelong dedication to service and my promise to fight for every family, senior, and child in our community.

Housing and Affordability

I support policies that protect long term residents and promote housing affordability. I will advocate for fair property tax policies, encourage responsible affordable housing development that helps prevent displacement, and work with local and community partners to expand homeownership opportunities for working families

Education and Student Support

I believe every child deserves access to a quality education. I will advocate for expanded support services for students with disabilities, support need based scholarships and career pathways, and work to increase access to after school programs, mentorship, and enrichment opportunities that help students succeed.

Healthcare and Aging

I believe families and seniors deserve affordable and accessible healthcare. I will advocate for expanded healthcare access, support community clinics, promote policies that allow seniors to age in place with dignity, and work toward reducing coverage gaps that impact working families.

Safety and Community Strength

I support community centered approaches to public safety. I will advocate for investments in youth mentorship and recreation programs, support mental health first response initiatives, and collaborate with nonprofits and community organizations working to strengthen neighborhoods and reduce crime.

Human Rights and Inclusion

I believe in protecting civil liberties and human rights for all residents. I will support inclusive policies and community programs that reflect the diversity of our district and work to ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and represented.

Women’s Rights and Reproductive Justice

Every woman deserves safe, timely healthcare and the right to make decisions about her own body. Laws that delay or restrict care put lives at risk and create fear for doctors and patients. I will fight to protect women’s health, maternal care, and reproductive justice in Georgia.

Join Me in Building a Stronger
District 58

I cannot do this alone — real change takes all of us working together. That’s why I’m asking you to join me in this campaign for District 58. Whether you volunteer your time, share your ideas, or simply spread the word, your involvement makes a powerful difference. Together, we can strengthen our neighborhoods, support families, and ensure every voice is heard.

I believe that campaigns are not just about candidates — they are about communities. When you sign up to volunteer, you help us reach neighbors, knock on doors, and connect with voters who deserve to be heard. When you subscribe for updates, you stay informed about events, priorities, and opportunities to make an impact. And when you share your concerns with me, you help shape the policies that will guide our future. With your help, we’ll build a safer, fairer, and more inclusive District 58 for everyone.
